Conglomerate China Resources Company sought a monumental presence with a design vocabulary evocative of great industry and its rapidly growing business.
HOK designed a 25-story tower and podium base strongly reminiscent of both New York deco, English art-deco corporate design and the monumental proportions of Russian ‘50s neo-Gothic. The application of granite, glass and metal, however, conveys modernity, reminding visitors of the company’s relevance into the coming decades.
The soaring structure is part of a mixed-use plan that includes hotel, convention, residential, commercial and recreational spaces.
HOK’s Beijing office is located in this building.
