Renewing a Power Plant for Accident Fund

An abandoned 1930s power plant along the downtown riverfront in Lansing, Mich., is transformed into a new headquarters for Accident Fund Holdings, Inc.

Ottawa Street Station, a coal-fired power plant, was built during the Great Depression and generated electricity for the Lansing area for more than 50 years. The team’s LEED Gold design preserves the industrial character of the nine-story building, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The project includes a 105,000-sq.-ft., C-shaped addition that reflects the scale and materials of the original Art Deco-style building.
