Taproot is a national nonprofit organization that connects business professionals willing to provide pro bono services with organizations working to improve society.
HOK’s design renovated the ground and first floors of a 1922 office building to create open-plan offices, a conference room and a reception area.
HOK’s workplace experts and designers began the project by helping Taproot’s people envision the type of space that would best support how they wanted to work.
The design provides a clutter-free, inviting environment with low partition workstations and several collaborative spaces for spontaneous meetings. The team incorporated Taproot’s new branding program, which was being formulated during the renovation, into the new space through accent colors, graphics and signage.
This renewal project was made possible in large part by donations from a variety of manufacturers, contractors and vendors. In addition to coordinating these donations, HOK’s people donated the equivalent of $80,000 in design services.
