HOK’s Tom Marquardt Named President Elect of the Society of British and International Design
The director of interiors in HOK’s Chicago office will become president of the professional accrediting organization for the UK’s interior design interior industry in 2020.
The Society of British and International Design (SBID) has appointed Tom Marquardt, IIDA, SBID, as president elect. Marquardt, the director of interiors for HOK’s Chicago practice, will become president of SBID in 2020 and serve in that position through 2022.
The SBID also has appointed Diana Celella as the new president for the 2018-2020 term.
“I am delighted to hand over the challenge to these fine and highly regarded designers who also bring diversity in skills, location and disciplines demonstrating the diversity and global reach of the industry,” said Dr. Vanessa Brady, OBE, past president and founder of the SBID.
Marquardt brings more than 30 years of interior design experience. His innovative work in interiors, interdisciplinary design and branded environments has established him as an international leader.
Marquardt has taught branded environments and portfolio classes at Chicago’s Harrington College of Design and presented on design thought leadership at events including NeoCon. He holds leadership positions in a variety of organizations and committees, including the Executive Circle of the American Marketing Association and Interiors + Sources magazine’s editorial board. In 2017 he received the International Interior Design Association (IIDA)’s Leadership Honor of Excellence award.
