HOK-Designed Shangri-La Hotel Opens in Doha
The luxurious design of the new Shangri-La Hotel, Doha pays homage to the city’s rich culture and traditions.
“HOK designed the 50-story Shangri-La Hotel, Doha that rises over West Bay to resemble a falcon’s head as a tribute to the sport of falconry, a Qatari pastime.
“Inside the lobby, a chandelier hangs from a golden dome. There is a floral-patterned wall behind the front desk, as well as tapestry from H.E. Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim al Thani’s personal collection.
“Accommodation includes 272 guestrooms and suites and 42 serviced apartments. The guestrooms, all with floor-to-ceiling windows and views of the city and Gulf, have earth tones and amenities including a 47-inch Wi-Fi-enabled smart TV. Complementing the interiors are marble bathrooms with a deep-soaking tub and walk-in shower.”
