HOK Team Participates in Topping Out Ceremony for NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital’s 17-Story Ambulatory Care Center
NewYork-Presbyterian held a signing ceremony on Feb. 21 to mark the installation of the final beam in the 750,000-sq.-ft. David H. Koch Center.
The state-of-the-art ambulatory care facility is expected to open in 2018, and is supported by a $100 million gift from David H. Koch.
“On behalf of NewYork-Presbyterian and our Board of Trustees, it’s an honor to celebrate our progress on the David H. Koch Center,” said Dr. Steven J. Corwin, president and CEO of NewYork-Presbyterian. “As the healthcare landscape continues to evolve, patients are increasingly seeking high quality care in an outpatient setting. We deeply appreciate David’s leadership, vision and generosity in working with us to build a center that will revolutionize care for New Yorkers.”
“Today’s ceremonial beam signing and topping-out celebration gives me enormous satisfaction that this site will soon become one of the finest ambulatory care centers dedicated to excellence in healthcare and personalized treatment,” said David H. Koch. “I am honored to participate in this important milestone and contribute to NewYork-Presbyterian’s future success.”
Located in Manhattan’s Upper East Side on York Avenue between 68th and 69th Streets, the David H. Koch Center is designed to provide patients with high quality, personalized care in a comfortable, technologically sophisticated setting. Once complete, the 750,000-square foot facility will offer a range of services, including multidisciplinary care for digestive diseases, cancer, eye diseases and other conditions, as well as outpatient surgery, interventional radiology, diagnostic imaging, preadmission testing and a wellness center. An important feature of the center will be its ability to accommodate new technology as patient care treatment evolves in the future.
The Alexandra & Steven Cohen Hospital for Women and Newborns will also be housed in the David H. Koch Center. Occupying the top six floors, the new, state-of-the-art hospital for pre- and post-natal care will be the first of its kind in the New York tri-state area.
HOK is providing architectural, interior design, sustainability and LEED, and lighting consulting services. Ballinger is the project’s medical architect and Pei Cobb Freed & Partners will provide facade and lobby design.
