Alberta’s Shell Place Mixed-Use Facility Recognized for Design Excellence
Shell Place, designed by HOK and Architecture | TB, is the recipient of the 2015 Top Projects Commercial Design Award from Alberta Construction Magazine.
The publication’s Top Projects Awards seek to “recognize and celebrate construction excellence in Alberta.”
Shell Place is a mixed-use sports, recreation and entertainment facility located at MacDonald Island Park in Fort McMurray, Wood Buffalo, Alberta. Since opening in 2015, the development has been host to a number of community events.
“We are delighted Shell Place is the recipient of this prestigious award,” said Annette Antoniak, chief executive officer of the Regional Recreation Corporation of Wood Buffalo. “We would like to also extend our thanks and congratulations to our partners on this project: Clark Builders, Turner Construction, Architecture | TB and HOK. Shell Place presents new opportunities to the community of the Wood Buffalo region for sport, recreation and event experiences, and we are thrilled the design of the project has been recognized in this manner.”
