San Francisco Public Safety Building Honored in Chamber of Commerce Awards
The San Francisco Public Safety Building designed by HOK with Mark Cavagnero Associates won the “Building San Francisco Award” in the Chamber of Commerce’s annual Excellence in Business Ebbie Awards.
The San Francisco Chamber of Commerce Ebbie Awards seek to honor “San Francisco businesses for their innovation, to celebrate their vision and publicly appreciate their contributions to the quality of life in the community and at their workplace.”
“The Bay Area is fortunate to have an array of businesses driving the region’s economic engine, and this year’s field of deserving nominees was particularly crowded,” Bob Linscheid, president and CEO of the Chamber of Commerce, said to the San Francisco Business Times. “Each represents the best of San Francisco in their respective category. The Chamber is proud to honor businesses large and small that embrace innovation and contribute so much to San Francisco and our region.”
The San Francisco Public Safety Building in Mission Bay Redevelopment Area houses the police administrative headquarters, a relocated district police station, a new district fire station and fleet vehicle parking.
The project includes the rehabilitation of a 1920s masonry fire station for community use. A central entry court incorporates this building as the south face of the plaza, allowing the historic structure to maintain a unique identity while playing an important role in the overall composition.
