HOK-Designed Porsche Experience Center and Headquarters Celebrates Grand Opening

Porsche North America Headquarters

Porsche’s new North American Experience Center and Headquarters in Atlanta combines an advanced customer experience center with a contemporary office space.

Porsche Cars North America has opened its new Experience Center and Headquarters in Atlanta. HOK designed this unique facility to bring up to 450 Porsche employees under one roof while serving as a destination for visitors and car enthusiasts. Located adjacent to the bustling Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, the complex is viewed as the first step in creating a burgeoning aerotropolis for the region.

“Our vision for our new home was to create a bold and energizing environment here in Atlanta and demonstrate the unique capabilities of our sports cars,” said Detlev von Platen, president and CEO of Porsche Cars North America. “The experience center coupled with our headquarters is truly the first of its kind in the automotive industry where we welcome employees, partners, customers and enthusiasts alike.”

“We designed a sleek, high-performance building to encapsulate the essence of the Porsche brand,” said HOK’s Todd Bertsch. “The integrated office space and training center bring together employees across five divisions of the company, creating a collaborative and highly productive work environment.”

The 1.6-mile driver development track runs through the facility’s courtyard and includes six driving modules designed to demonstrate the capabilities of different Porsche models.

Visitors also can experience the classic car gallery, restoration center, human performance center, cafes and driving simulator lab. Restaurant 356, named after the first production Porsche, offers diners a front row seat to the test track. A 13,000-sq.-ft. business center features state of the art conference rooms and event spaces. In the design studio, customers can create virtually their dream cars.

“Porsche’s investment in its new headquarters represents the confidence it has in the future success of our state, our economy and our workforce,” said Georgia Governor Nathan Deal. “The facility at One Porsche Drive is as innovative, forward-thinking and performance-driven as the company itself.”

An estimated 30,000 guests are expected to visit the Porsche Experience Center each year. Designed for LEED Silver certification, the building is optimized for daylighting and features a highly efficient building envelope.
