Two HOK Hospitality Projects Win Prestigious Gold Key Awards
HOK’s Rosewood Abu Dhabi and Jewel Suite by Martin Katz at Lotte New York Palace won Gold Key Awards and are featured in Boutique Design.
“Today’s consumers want hotels, restaurants and other hospitality venues that suit their styles as much as their clothes or tech toys. This year’s Gold Key honorees answer that challenge with unprecedented diversity.”
“The challenge was to adapt Rosewood’s signature sese of place elegance to suit the style of a city that embraces the hottest, newest, latest in all things. Breath-taking elements such as the chandelier in the La Cava restaurant crafted with nearly 100 lbs of silver confirm this 189 room property’s ultra-luxury status. But, it’s the inventive subtleties that earned HOK’s work best in class design honors in this year’s Gold Key voting. Take the way the designers turned ‘local’ and artisinal into luxe statement pieces.”
The Jewel Suite by Martin Katz at Lotte New York Palace won the Best Suite Honor. Designed in collaboration with acclaimed jewelry designer Martin Katz, the magnificent Jewel Suite merges romance, abstract elements of nature and Art Deco-inspired elements in a luxurious and luminous setting.
“The challenge was to polish the brilliance of one of the country’s pre-eminent jewelers into a dazzling setting for a 4,000-sq.-ft. triplex retreat. It’s not surprising that light and reflection are key facets of this jewelry-themed renovation. It’s the dynamics of how they’re used that elevates inspiration to innovation.”
“Receiving accolades at the highest level possible for our design work is a testament to our team’s collective efforts,” said Julia Monk, senior vice president and director of hospitality interiors based in HOK’s Hong Kong office. “We are particularly grateful to be honored for projects completed both domestically and abroad and for work that celebrates elements of each project’s unique heritage and location.”
