Two HOK Projects Win NAIOP Maryland/DC Awards
At the 12th-annual NAIOP (Commercial Real Estate Development Association) Maryland/DC Awards Banquet, two HOK projects won awards of excellence.
HOK’s Washington, DC, office was honored with two awards at the NAIOP Maryland/DC Chapter’s 2014 Awards of Excellence banquet last week.
- Best Urban Office (over 150,000 square feet): Three Constitution Square
Three Constitution Square (above left) houses a mix of private sector tenants, with a flexible, 30,000-sq.-ft. floor plate and single column line to accommodate demanding layout requirements. This dynamic mixed-use development has a commanding presence at the center of DC’s vibrant NoMa neighborhood. The Class A office building also features abundant green space in the private courtyard and integrates a plaza connecting it to the adjacent Metro rapid transit station.
- Best Sustainable Project: U.S. Coast Guard Headquarters at St. Elizabeths West Campus
HOK provided landscape architecture and interior design services for the Coast Guard’s new LEED Gold headquarters (above right) in Washington’s Anacostia neighborhood. The site’s exterior spaces are high-performance landscapes that provide ecological, aesthetic, programmatic and educational functions. A green roof features 400,000 square feet of plants from the Blue Ridge, Northern Piedmont, Southeastern Plains and Middle Atlantic Coastal Plain areas.
Attendees from HOK’s Washington, DC, office included Amy Fabry, Nita Tuvesson, Roger Schwabacher, Duncan Kirk, Jelena Lustica and Tom Nantka (Vincent Ng and Bill Stinger are not pictured).
