Al Lyons Is HOK’s New Director of IT and Electronic Systems Consulting
Al Lyons has joined HOK’s engineering group as senior vice president and firm-wide director of IT and electronic systems consulting. He is based in the firm’s New York office.
Lyons brings 30 years of experience in the planning, design, procurement, implementation, commissioning, operation and integration of information technology and electronic systems to HOK’s global engineering group. He optimizes these systems to automate business processes and improve their overall performance.
His expertise greatly improves HOK’s ability to support the business processes and technologies our clients need to achieve their goals for the built environment.
For the past 17 years, Lyons developed and led Arup’s IT consulting business in the Americas. His team collaborated with HOK while acting as owner’s representative for the IT and electronic systems at the 6.46 million-sq.-ft. Hamad International Airport Passenger Terminal Complex in Doha, Qatar. He served as principal-in-charge for replacement of the environmental control and fire alarm systems for 8 million square feet of office and retail space at Rockefeller Center in New York. Lyons also provided IT peer review and operational readiness consulting for the Emirates Terminal 3, Concourse B at Dubai Airport.
Earlier in his career, while at Syska Hennessy Group, Lyons designed IT and electronic systems for two HOK projects: NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center in New York and Bristol-Myers Squibb’s headquarters and research campus in Lawrenceville, N.J.
