India’s Tallest Air Traffic Control Tower Opens
The HOK-designed air traffic control tower at Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport opened in Mumbai. The tower, equivalent in height to a 30-story building, is the tallest air traffic control tower in India, one of the top ten aviation markets in the world.
At 84 meters (275 feet), the tower’s height gives controllers an unobstructed view of the entire area and enhances the airport’s traffic handling capacity. Advanced technology in the tower will help reduce communication errors between air traffic controllers and cockpit crew.
